What is Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a naturally occurring, altered state of awareness that we go in and out of many times a day, similar to day dreaming or getting engrossed in a book. It is characterised by focussed attention, often involving a relaxation of the conscious mind. During trance you are able to quieten your often critical inner voice which comes from your conscious mind allowing us to access the subconscious part where we can take on information, ideas and suggestions more willingly.
What is Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a way of using hypnosis to help individuals make positive changes in their lives. It works by accessing the subconscious mind where deeply rooted thoughts, habits and emotions are stored, allowing you to shift your perception, change unhelpful patterns and adopt a new mindset.
There is a belief that hypnotherapy is something done to you, that you explain your problem and I can magic it away, that’s not the case. Together, we explore potential solutions, allowing you to identify what works best for you.
Solution Focussed Clinical Hypnotherapy
Solution Focussed Clinical Hypnotherapy is an evidence based talking therapy backed by the latest research in neuroscience. A modern therapeutic approach that combines productive elements of Solution Focussed Therapy with Brain Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Neuro-linguistic Programming. Each session is made up of talking therapy, including how your brain works and finishing with relaxing hypnotherapy which will increase the effects of the solution focussed part of each session. I will help you understand how your brain works and how to make lasting positive change.
We will focus on identifying solutions, and concentrate on what you want to achieve by using positive language and imagery.
Whilst always acknowledging your past, we won’t dwell there, instead we choose to focus on the now and the future - we look ahead, helping you uncover solutions that suit you and in turn help you gain control.
It is important to understand that change happens because you want it to and you are prepared to take steps to make it happen.
